ELF, Rain and 100 Pennies

So, last week, the sun broke just long enough to let the rain clouds come in and I thought I'd enjoy the smell of the rain and make a quick run to my local Dollar General.

When I reached the makeup section I noticed they have started to sell E.L.F. products along with the typical L.A. Colors and some other random drugstore brand makeup.

Since I have only tried a few of ELF's products I thought I'd give it a try...and c'mon, seriously....for a $1 you don't feel like you are being cheated if it's crap.

Some are a bargain and some are...just plain. good old-fashion junk.

E.L.F. Mechanical Eye Lash Curler
Totally worth 100 pennies, in fact I would have paid ALOT more for it. An eyelasher curler is a necessity for me and my freakishly straight lashes. My old Revlon curler will now go into my spare/travel bag.

E.L.F. False Eyelashes
I have tried these before and although the lashes themselves were fine, the design made me crazy. They used to have a white strip that held the lashes together...that same strip was very visible when wearing the lashes....well, white strip no more! These are great for disposable lashes!

E.L.F. Eye Shadow Brush
If you watch ANY makeup gurus on youtube, you know how they feel about this brush...it's soft, blends and applies easy...really, what more could you want? Very, very comparable to alot more expensive brushes.

Psst...over here....don't tell anyone, but this brush is softer than my MAC brushes....shhhh

E.L.F. Foundation Brush
I have little to say about this brush. Pro: It's soft, but you can tell it's cheap. It's good for a back up. Con: It tends to streak alittle, but with some creative blending and time it comes out fine. My recommendation on this is to skip it...it's not impressive, but good if you were caught in a bind.

E.L.F. Total Face Brush
Eeeek! What happened here? The dyed red bristles are plastic-y and similar to the play-brushes that came with the makeup kit you were given for your 5th birthday.

So I had this bright idea....."Maybe if I wash it it will help soften it up". I was wrong! All of a sudden my sink water was red...the red dye started to come out. The washing only made the bristles sticky and weird feeling. My recommendation is save your 20 nickles on this one.

E.L.F. Eye Blending Brush
Who are they kidding? Eye blending brush? This brush is the same size as my MAC 129 and my Clinique Blush Brush. Who is going to use this brush on their eyes?

This brush has the same bristles as the Face Brush, and in a smaller version I don't feel any different...they are still crap!

So overall, ELF has it's strong and weak points. I hope you found this helpful, and if not, try the products yourself.

Until next time, XOXO Amy
